Nestled within the historic heart of Casbah, Café Malakoff stands out as a captivating art café that effortlessly marries tradition with modern charm. Renowned for its warm atmosphere and nostalgic decor, this café invites both locals and visitors to savor its delightful offerings amidst the backdrop of Algiers' rich cultural heritage.

As you step inside, you're enveloped by a unique ambiance that showcases the artistry of the region. The café's interior is a feast for the eyes, adorned with eclectic art pieces and traditional Algerian decor, creating a cozy haven where time seems to stand still. Patrons have described it as one of the "coziest places in the lower Casbah," emphasizing its inviting character. Customers have fondly shared their experiences, capturing the essence of this hidden gem: the welcoming owners are always ready to share stories about the café's history, making you feel right at home.

Café Malakoff is not just a feast for the eyes; it's also a haven for the palate. Known for its delectable coffee and refreshing minty lemon drink, visitors rave about the quality of the drinks served here. The café also offers a selection of tempting pastries that beautifully complement its beverages, inviting you to indulge in a moment of pure pleasure. It’s the kind of place where great flavors meet an unforgettable atmosphere, especially appreciated by those exploring the nearby museums or taking a leisurely stroll through the Casbah.

Yet, not everything is perfect. While the indoor staff have garnered praise for their friendliness, some reviews reflect a gap in service that could enhance the overall experience. Clean tables and attentive outdoor staff could certainly elevate the experience to new heights, making Café Malakoff not just a good stop, but a must-visit destination in Algiers.

Despite these minor setbacks, the vibrant community of the lower Casbah, coupled with the enchanting atmosphere, ensures that a visit to this café is worthwhile. As the owner Zakaria Daoud reflects, "I truly recommend going and enjoy," which resonates with the spirit of discovery that characterizes this historic area.

In summary, if you find yourself wandering through the winding alleys of Casbah, make sure to pencil in a stop at Café Malakoff—where history, artistry, and good company converge to create an experience that lingers long after your last sip.

Café Malakoff is a historic place i recommend everyone to see if they visit the casbah of Algiers. The cafe is situated not too far from the metro, so it's easy to access, and it's next to other museums at the lower casbah. The owners are very welcoming and they would tell you about the place so don't hesitate to ask questions. Unfortunately the place is mostly frequented by men since ever but women can still go in and admire the decorations.

This is a hidden gem in the heart of Sahat El Chouhadaa. - the atmosphere is nice with the architecture, lower casbah people and culture. - HOWEVER, the service is yet to deliver. From clean tables and indifferent outdoor staff. The place can totally thrive if this is handled. The prices as well but it's not different from Algiers prices at this point. Thanks to the nice indoor staff and this place is amazing for a quick snack on your way to shopping or brunch/ coffee break.

Great coffee, and minty lemon drink. Nice pastry too. Main thing was the fun atmosphere, and decorations, which were great.

Café en plein place des Martyrs, trop calme et frais. Si tu es dans une belle bâtisse en pierre. Décor rustique et antique. C'est juste magnifique
